Crawler!

Sophie is officially on the move. She's in more of the army crawl mode, but she's getting to be quite excellent at it... So now I've got two little ones to chase after!

I am writing this post mostly to make sure that this font thing works, but I guess it’s about time for one!! Let’s see… what’s going on in our lives? Well, Daniel has started a one’s plus class through the city. It’s been… interesting. I think he is finally starting to like it, but this whole structured-staying-on-one=task-for-more-than-two=seconds thing has been QUITE a challenge for him (and me!!) However, he is started to like songs during circle time (which at first he HATED), but he won’t participate yet. On Wednesdays they get to go outside, so he is super-excited about that…

Last Friday, we got in a park day with Ruth and her grandkids. That was lots of fun! Daniel absolutely LOVED climbing up a ladder and then running across a bridge to jump off the side (and into my arms).

Sophie is a social butterfly. She LOVES attention from everyone, but especially from Mommy, Daddy, and Daniel. She lights up whenever she sees any of us, which is so fun! She’s a big girl, already wearing 12 month clothes…. Slow Down, Sophie!!! She is mastering sitting on her own right now, and despite learning to roll over fairly early, she still gets stuck on her tummy. Though I think she is determined to start crawling, so she doesn’t see the point in rolling back. J

Well, I should probably take advantage of the fact that Daniel let me write all of this uninterrupted and quit while I’m ahead. J

Indoor Sand

So Daniel was getting bored, and Sophie seems to be catching his cold, and I wanted something easy to capture Daniel's attention for a little while. Enter, cloud dough from a Pinterest recipe... Now I did know my two year old kid would make a giant mess of it going into it, but like I said, the point was to keep him busy for a few minutes. 

And of course, what he still seemed the most interested in doing:

And now I am just waiting for Sophie to wake up so I can vacuum it all up!!!

Sophie has a bed!

So, now that Sophie is turning five months old, there is a crib in her bedroom. Now, we have had this crib for at least two weeks, and Daniel had a great time playing with the box, but it has finally made it out of the box, and Rudy has carefully crafted it so that Sophie can sleep peacefully in it.

Or at least gaze in awe at the ceiling fan.

Then roll over in it...

And then, I don't seem to have a picture of this, but cry miserably because she can't roll back and thus ended up with a face full of mattress. Which I guess she just wasn't comfortable with.

That's okay, though, because big brother Daniel was happy to take over her bed...

And  read the letters of her name.

And if you try to remove him from this activity, quite dramatically throw a tantrum.

Which works really well when trying to convince a baby to fall asleep in a new place.

And, so, Sophie spent another restful night in her little sleeper bed and then sharing with Mom and Dad. Of course.

Hopefully she learns to roll from her tummy to her back soon...

Spring Break

So for the second time this month, the kids and I have had to fend for ourselves sans daddy. Now, granted, I still have had some help, but not having a partner home at the end of the day is still a challenge no matter how the day has been. However, I've also discovered that I can do just fine taking care of two little ones under two all by myself, which I have to say I'm pretty proud of.
In this week off, I've found out that Sophie is really a very easy, predictable baby. I thought I was lucky with Daniel, but this little girl makes my life so easy. Which is nice, because Daniel continues to be a constant ball of energy. She follows a pattern... She naps, wakes up, eats, plays in her chair or activity gym, then plays on the other one, gets sleepy, and starts again. And almost all of it with a big smile on her face.
What I really can't believe is how quickly she is growing. She's already trying to sit herself up, despite not being able to support herself in a sitting position in the first place. She's fitting into her six month clothes (after turning just three months yesterday) quite well, which means I need to clean out her closet AGAIN. She's grabbing, cooing, and babbling like crazy. I feel like she is doing this stuff so much earlier than Daniel, but then I think maybe it's just because I had to go back to work so much earlier with her that time is just passing too quickly.

Daniel is a mix of awesome big brother and jealous baby boy... He takes care of her one minute, and throws things at her the next. When she cries, he'll either try to give her a pacifier, or he'll try to climb up me so I pay attention to him instead. Overall, though, he has been pretty good with her, so I really can't complain.

I have to admit, though, I am looking forward to the fact that when I wake up tomorrow morning, Daddy will be home. We've all been missing him, but I'm also proud of him for making it through his first business trip all by himself... And all the way across the country.

Definitely Four...

It's been so long since I have come on to blog that poor Sophie isn't even included as existing yet. Poor baby! Well, just thought that now that I have an iPad, maybe I might get a chance to actually keep up on this thing a little more. So I'm going to try it out and see... This is currently one of those rare occasions where both my babies are napping. One quite normally... And one upside down in his tent. Why a tent? Well, the little monkey figured out how to climb out of his crib. Which, I know, is quite normal. However, finding the little guy standing up on the attached changing table was just not something I wanted to see,since I feared the next thing to come would be a trip to the emergency room.  And he very quickly mastered getting out of his play yard in about five seconds flat, so since we already had a tent hanging around we decided to try it out. Success! He enjoys playing in the tent and sleeping in it. But somehow playing in it leads to the crazy sleeping
and  now I am quite proud of myself because I figured out how to get the pics from my ipad onto the blog. Yay!

Summer News

I don't know why it is that I am so terrible about remembering that I have a blog. And you'd think our news today would've been the reason that I suddenly remembered and had the inclination to write - but no, it is because I opened up Internet Explorer, rather than Google Chrome, and happen to notice the link on my favorites bar...

So our big news today? We found out Daniel will be getting a little baby sister! Yay! For some reason, all along, everyone has seemed to know this... but in the past couple of weeks Daddy and I were starting to get used to the idea of it being a boy. But nope, it's a girl!! Woo-hoo! That means that all the boxes of baby boy clothes will not be of use (because NO, we are NOT having more after this!), but it also means shopping!!!  And I couldn't resist already... Daniel and I went to Target this afternoon and I bought a cute little outfit for our little girl. :)

And since Daniel doesn't seem to want to take a nap this afternoon, it looks like I may have to end this post a little short... I'm thinking that may be the biggest reason that not too many posts have been made!! :)
